BuzzFeed News, the digital news outlet that harnessed the power of social media to take the internet by storm, is shuttering. Back then, BuzzFeed was the envy of media and its employees the cool kids of the industry. Lists and quizzes saturated social media feeds and dominated the internet. As the dinosaurs of the social media era get their lunch eaten by newcomers such as TikTok, so are the outlets that previously wielded those same platforms as their superpowers. Calvin O. Butts III, who welcomed generations of worshippers as well as political leaders from across the nation and around the world at Harlem’s landmark Abyssinian Baptist Church, died Friday at age 73, the church announced. “The Butts Family and entire Abyssinian Baptist Church membership solicit your prayers for us in our bereavement,” the church said on its website. Butts began serving as a youth minister at Abyssinian in 1972 and was senior pastor there for more than 30 years. Calvin O. Al Sharpton called Butts a major pillar in the Harlem community.

Ulta is still the most popular beauty store for all female teens, according to a semiannual survey. Out of the 6,670 female teens surveyed, 29% of upper-income female teens and 40% of average-income female teens chose Bath & Body Works as their favorite source for fragrances. Upper-income female teens are spending slightly less for perfumes at $62 every year compared with $67 a year spent on perfumes by average-income female teens. While female teens with wealthier incomes spent $93 last fall on hair care products, female teens with average income spent $91 a year. However, Olaplex was the most popular hair care brand for 14% of upper-income female teens, and the second most popular for female teens with average incomes.
